How does reverse osmosis work?
What is reverse osmosis
Osmosis is a natural process in which a liquid flows through a semipermeable membrane with small pores (semipermeable wall). This membrane allows the liquid to pass through and filters out any contaminants.
Reverse osmosis uses pressure to force water through the membrane. All particles other than the water molecule H2O are thus filtered from the water. It filters down to a tenth of a nanometer (1/10,000,000th of a millimeter). This process is completely natural, so no chemicals are used.
RO = the most thorough water filter technology
With this technique, you truly remove everything from the water: particles that are harmful to our health, but also those that are healthy, such as minerals. We then add the beneficial minerals back in so you can tap the purest and best water from your source.
Reverse osmosis is therefore the most thorough water filter technology available. The result is water that tastes fresher, makes tea richer and fuller, and keeps flowers blooming even longer. Pure water that's truly good for your health and saves you bottled water.
What is all filtered out of the water?
Our PureAqua water filters remove a wide range of harmful substances from tap water. These include chemicals like PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, pesticides, bacteria, and heavy metals like lead. They also filter chlorine, limescale, and unpleasant odors and flavors, so you can enjoy safe, clean, and delicious drinking water.
Where is the filtered water stored?
At The Source, the filtered water is stored in a storage tank made of sustainable, non-toxic materials. This is different from many other systems on the market.
In addition, the resulting wastewater (the residual water containing the waste products) is the lowest of all reverse osmosis systems on the market, up to 500% less. This wastewater is then flushed into the sewer system.
