Why filter tap water?
In the Netherlands, clean water comes out of the tap. But clean doesn't always mean pure. Traces of pharmaceutical residues, pesticides, PFAS, and other micropollutants are increasingly being found in our drinking water. These are substances invisible to the naked eye, but you'd rather not have them in your glass.

How does a home water filter work?
Reverse osmosis is a filtration method in which water is passed through a membrane under pressure. The filter allows only water molecules to pass through and traps contaminants. The system works without a tank or storage vessel and is connected directly to the water supply. It is operated via a special tap that delivers the filtered water.
If you want complete protection against the latest water problems (PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, nanoplastics) and convenience (fewer filters, higher flow, longer warranty), a home RO-based water filter like The Source™ offers the best overall value. For those who simply want to improve the taste without installation, a carafe is fine – but expect higher costs per liter and little health benefit.

Does The Source™ really remove >99% PFAS and pharmaceutical residues?
Yes. The reverse osmosis membrane has a pore size of 0.0001 µm, which virtually completely blocks PFAS molecules, pharmaceutical and hormone residues, and nanoplastics. The results have been independently tested and IAPMO-certified.
Can I install the system myself or do I need an engineer?
You can choose to install it yourself with the included step-by-step video, or have it installed free of charge by a PureAqua technician. Installation takes less than 90 minutes and requires no demolition work.
How often should I replace the filter?
Once a year (or after approximately 3,000 liters), you replace the click-on cartridge set. Cost: approximately €89 per year. You'll automatically receive an email reminder and a return label to send the old cartridges in for recycling.
Does this water filter fit under every countertop?
Almost. The module is 42 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 38 cm deep – meaning it fits in 95% of Dutch kitchen cabinets. Not sure? Send us a photo and we'll check it for you free of charge.
What if I don't like the system within the first few months?
You have 100 days to try The Source™. If you don't like it, we'll pick it up free of charge and give you a full refund.
What is the difference between a carbon carafe and a refrigerator filter?
A carafe primarily removes chlorine and some flavors or odors; stubborn contaminants like PFAS, lead, and pharmaceutical residues are largely left behind. The Source™ filters these, delivers a continuous 1.5 liters per minute, and saves you the hassle of refilling.
