Sparkling water tap

A sparkling water tap is a kitchen solution that provides filtered, chilled, and CO₂-enriched water in addition to regular water. The cooler and CO₂ bottle are stored in the kitchen cupboard; you can easily select still or sparkling water via the tap.

The fizz is created by food-safe CO₂ . The system will alert you when the bottle is almost empty. Replacing it is easy and usually only takes a few minutes.

Depending on the model, you can choose from multiple sparkling levels or adjust the intensity via the app or control from lightly sparkling to strongly sparkling.

Our systems actively cool the water, so your sparkling water comes out of the tap delightfully cold, usually around 5 °C to 7 °C. This is comparable to refrigerator temperature. You therefore do not need to chill it first; the water is ready to drink and refreshing immediately. That depends on your consumption. A standard CO₂ cylinder provides approximately 60 liters of sparkling water. If you were to dispense 1 liter of sparkling water every day, the cylinder would last about two months. In practice, the average user dispenses less, and the cylinder will last for several months. Replacing it is easy to do yourself: you unscrew the empty cylinder and screw in a new one. PureAqua supplies replacement cylinders as well as refill programs. The system itself often indicates (via an indicator light) when the CO₂ is running low, so you are never unexpectedly left without fizz.

If you already have a boiling water tap, adding sparkling water functionality is possible with certain brands and models. Quooker, for example, offers the CUBE unit as an expansion, and Unito has a modular system that allows you to add a sparkling water module (e.g., Unito Sparkle). These modules do, of course, require space for the additional reservoir and cylinder. Not every tap from every brand can be upgraded retroactively; sometimes a new set is the wiser choice. Yes, sparkling tap water is of comparable quality to bottled sparkling water. You can partially determine the intensity of the bubbles through the system settings or the level of carbonation (some systems have settings from mildly sparkling to highly sparkling). By default, it corresponds to classic sparkling water from the supermarket. The great advantage is that the water is also filtered, so there is no aftertaste of chlorine or metals from pipes; it tastes pure and fresh. Many users report tasting no difference, or even finding the sparkling tap water better due to its freshness.

When dispensing sparkling water, you will hear a soft humming from the carbonation pump and cooler, similar to the sound of a refrigerator or SodaStream machine. This noise only lasts as long as you are dispensing sparkling water (plus a few seconds afterward to build up pressure) and is generally not considered disruptive. In terms of maintenance, the system is quite simple: you replace the CO₂ cylinder on time and the water filter periodically (usually once a year) for optimal performance. The cooling system is a maintenance-free, closed unit. Every few years, an inspection or service check may be performed to, for example, dust the cooler.
