How does the Joep water softener work?
Joep softens tap water through ion exchange. Calcium and magnesium ions are captured by resin, resulting in soft water. Once the resin is saturated, Joep automatically cleans it with regeneration salt. The regeneration process is tailored to the measured water consumption and usually takes place at night.
- The hard water enters via the bypass at Joep's place.
- The resin in Joep exchanges calcium and magnesium for soft water.
- The soft water flows from the bypass further into your home.

How efficient is the Joep water softener?

This allows Joep to provide sufficient soft water, even during peak times. For an exceptionally large household, very hard water, or multiple bathrooms, we recommend a personal capacity check first.

Critical of salt
How much salt does the Joep water softener use?
On average, Joep uses approximately 15 kg of regeneration salt per person per year. Per regeneration cycle, the system uses about 0.9 to 1.5 kg of salt and approximately 49 liters of water. How often Joep regenerates depends on the water hardness and the household's water consumption. Always use A-grade regeneration salt that complies with NF, EN 973, or EN 1408.

- Economical. Joep uses only approx. 15 kilos of salt per person per year.
